Product Description

The everyday Greek pita: soft, fresh, and made without shortcuts.

Elviart Mini Pita Bread is produced weekly at the Kadoïdas bakery in Aspropyrgos, near Athens, one of Greece's most established pita makers since 1952. Each round is baked fresh, never frozen, and arrives with its natural elasticity and soft, airy texture fully intact. The recipe is simple and honest: wheat flour, water, yeast, salt, and nothing that does not belong there.

At 11cm, these are the classic mini-format pita used across Greek street food, meze tables, and home kitchens. The texture is light and slightly pillowy, with a thin crust that gives just enough structure for wrapping or loading with dips. Warm them in a dry pan for 30–40 seconds or briefly in the oven, and the aroma is exactly what you'd expect from a Greek bakery counter.

Fresh, not frozen — here's what that actually means for shelf life.

Fresh pita travelling from Greece sounds like it needs to be eaten immediately. It does not. Elviart's recipe includes a carefully calibrated preservative system that keeps the pita at optimal texture and flavour for at least two weeks from the date it arrives at your door, stored at room temperature, no refrigeration required.

  • Shelf life at production: 20–22 days
  • Transit time via land: approximately 5 days
  • Remaining shelf life on arrival: 15+ days at room temperature
  • After best-before date: freezes perfectly for up to 12 months

The format that makes daily use effortless.

A pack of 10 at this price point is designed for one thing: removing any friction between you and a good meal. Whether you are building a quick meze table for guests, preparing souvlaki at home, or looking for a clean bread alternative for the week, having these in the cupboard means the answer is always ready. No cold chain, no defrosting, no planning ahead.

  • Economy shipping: lower total cost without sacrificing freshness or quality
  • Pack of 10: the right quantity for a household or a small professional reorder
  • No cold chain required: ambient storage simplifies logistics for restaurants, caterers, and delis

How it arrives.

Each pack of 10 mini pitas is sealed in a protective bag that maintains freshness during transit. The pitas arrive soft and ready to use — no conditioning time needed. If anything, a 30-second warm in a dry pan brings them back to exactly the texture you'd expect from a bakery.

Use it for:

  • Meze and dip table — alongside tzatziki, taramasalata, hummus, and spreads
  • Mini pizza bases — a genuinely useful weeknight shortcut
  • High-protein snack with a dip — 8.8g of protein per 100g, clean ingredients
  • Bread alternative for meals and BBQs — vegetarian-friendly, no animal products

"Delicious, perfect for snacking between meals, mini sandwiches." — Pili G. ★★★★★

Elviart has been making pita in Greece since 1952. This is the real thing, at the right price.

Nutritional Components

Fresh Greek pita: clean bread, honest numbers.

Most pita you find outside Greece is either frozen, over-processed, or made with ingredient lists that run to 20 items. This one has seven core ingredients. At 8.8g of protein per 100g, it earns its place as a genuine meal component rather than a neutral filler.

Why the ingredient list matters:

  • Wheat flour (63%): the primary ingredient, as it should be — no starch fillers, no emulsifiers
  • Fresh yeast: used in traditional Greek bakery production, not a dry stabiliser
  • Clean preservative system: calcium propionate and sorbic acid are standard bakery-grade preservatives; they extend ambient shelf life without altering flavour or texture
  • Protein content: 8.8g per 100g — meaningful for a bread product, especially when paired with protein-rich dips (tzatziki, hummus, taramasalata)
  • Low in fat: 1.4g per 100g, of which saturates only 0.4g
  • Vegetarian-friendly: no animal products in the recipe

Nutritional values per 100g:

  • Energy: 1070 kJ / 252 kcal
  • Fat: 1.4g — of which saturates: 0.4g
  • Carbohydrates: 50g — of which sugars: 4.6g
  • Fibre: 2.4g
  • Protein: 8.8g
  • Salt: 0.9g

Ingredients: Wheat flour (63%), water, fresh yeast, salt, sugar, sunflower oil, baking enzymes, acidity regulator: sodium diacetate, preservatives: (calcium propionate, sorbic acid). May contain traces of soya, lupin, and mustard.

Made by Elviart Kadoïdas — Aspropyrgos, Greece. Suitable for vegetarians. No dairy, no eggs.

Useful Information

Storage guide: ambient-friendly, freeze-ready.

This pita is designed to travel from Greece to your door without a cold chain. Ambient storage is not a compromise — it is the intended format. The shelf life is built into the production method and the preservative balance.

How to store it correctly:

  • Before opening: keep at room temperature, away from direct sunlight. No refrigeration needed.
  • After opening: keep sealed as best you can, or transfer to a resealable bag. Consume within 2–3 days of opening for the best texture.
  • After best-before date: freeze immediately if you are not going to use the remaining pitas. The product freezes well for up to 12 months with no loss of texture after warming.

Freshness timeline:

  • Sealed, at room temperature: 15+ days from delivery date, up to the printed best-before date
  • Opened, at room temperature: 2–3 days — consume or freeze promptly
  • Frozen (before or after best-before date): up to 12 months — defrost at room temperature for 30–60 minutes, or warm directly in a dry pan

Why the mini format?

The 11cm round is the standard format for street food and meze in Greece — not a smaller version of something bigger, but the original format that most of what you've eaten at a Greek souvlaki counter was built on. It wraps cleanly, loads evenly, and portions itself naturally. One pack gives you ten individual servings ready to use, without having to cut anything.
