Product Description
Kourabiedes from Athens: butter and almond cookies under icing sugar
Κουραμπιέδες, the white cookies of every Greek celebration. Ours are shaped by hand in Athens by the Ipirotiko bakery: a short dough with butter, eggs and almonds, a touch of cognac and vanilla, baked and rolled in icing sugar while still warm.
The bite is short and crumbly, it melts rather than crunches, with the taste of butter and toasted almond under a sweet white coat. Expect icing sugar on your fingers and on the table: that is part of eating a kourabies.
They come in a sealed rigid tray of 320g, closed at the bakery, so the cookies and their sugar arrive intact. Once opened, the lid closes back on, so the cookies stay crumbly.
How to enjoy them
- With a Greek coffee or a cup of tea
- Next to melomakarona, the classic pair on a plate of Greek sweets
- On the table when friends and family come over
- As a gift: the tray arrives closed and travels well
