Goat Kefalotyri from Ios is an intense, aged Greek cheese with a bold and savoury character.

 

One of Greece’s oldest traditional cheeses, kefalotyri, is usually made from a mix of milks. This version is different: it is produced exclusively with goat’s milk from the island of Ios, resulting in a cleaner, sharper, and more defined flavour.

 

Firm in texture and rich in taste, it is ideal both grated over pasta and enjoyed in aperitifs or cheese boards, where its character truly shines. Its pronounced savouriness pairs beautifully with dry white wines, balancing richness with freshness.

 

Only goat’s milk from Ios, limited production, perfect for white wine, aperitifs, and pasta.

 

Where it comes from

Produced on the Cycladic island of Ios by To Niotiko Tyrokomio, this cheese is made using locally sourced milk from free-grazing animals.

Traditional methods are respected at every stage, preserving the natural qualities of the milk without unnecessary interventions.

Each piece reflects the island’s terroir, delivering authentic flavours rooted in craftsmanship and tradition.

Io l'ho assaggiato per la prima volta e devo dire che è stata una bella scoperta. Per mia mamma, che invece lo ha mangiato in Grecia, se lo ricordava proprio così buono. Abbiamo seguito il consiglio di prenderlo per aperitivo con una Vitovska, un vino bianco di buona gradazione della nostra zona, ed è stato praticamente un gemellaggio. Super contenta. Consegnato super veloce come se fosse appena uscito dal frigo. 5 stelline plus.
