    A first Greek pantry: six basics for a week of cooking

    This kit is for anyone starting to cook Greek at home. One order brings extra virgin olive oil, two packs of feta, Kalamata olives, a 920g jar of honey, Greek fava from Farsala for the purée and oregano from Naxos. They cover the three dishes below, and the oil, honey and oregano stay in the cupboard for the rest of the week.

    What's in the kit

    Fava purée with olive oil, onion and lemon

    From the kit: the fava and the olive oil. You add a red onion, a lemon, water and salt.

    1. Boil the fava in water, without soaking it first, for 50–60 minutes, until it falls apart.
    2. Blend it or mash it with a fork, and season with salt.
    3. Pour over a generous drizzle of olive oil, then add the chopped red onion and a squeeze of lemon.

    For a horiatiki, cut tomato, cucumber and onion, add a slab of feta and a handful of olives, and finish with olive oil and a pinch of oregano. For baked feta, put a piece in a hot oven for a few minutes and spoon some honey over it.

    Delivery and storage

    How it arrives: each product comes in its original producer packaging, packed together in a single shipment.

    The feta goes in the fridge as soon as the kit arrives. Consume each product by the date printed on its pack.

    • Feta: in the fridge at +2/+6 °C; once opened, consume within 5 days
    • Extra virgin olive oil: in a cool, dark place
    • Kalamata olives: once opened, in the fridge, covered by their liquid, and eaten within 15 days
    • Honey: in a cool, dry place, away from heat
