Product Description

Cretan dakos at home, and a cheese board with Cretan honey

This box has the rusks and the cheese for making Cretan dakos at home: barley rusks and grated xynomyzithra. With them come three gravieras from Crete and a jar of thyme and wild herb honey for the cheese board.

What's in the box

Dakos with xynomyzithra

From the box: the barley rusks and the xynomyzithra. You add ripe tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil and salt.

  1. Sprinkle each rusk with a little water. It should soften, not soak.
  2. Grate the tomato over the rusk, add a pinch of salt, then cover with xynomyzithra.
  3. Finish with a drizzle of olive oil.

For the cheese board, slice the three gravieras and add a spoonful of honey. Cook the skioufikta as the pack says, then dress them with olive oil and a handful of xynomyzithra.

The cheeses go in the fridge as soon as the box arrives. Consume each product by the date printed on its pack.

  • Graviera Kritis, graviera with oregano: in the fridge at 2–4°C
  • Smoked graviera: in the fridge at 0–4°C
  • Grated xynomyzithra: in the fridge at 2–6°C; once opened, keep it in the fridge and eat it straight away
  • Honey: in a cool, dry place, away from heat
  • Barley rusks: in a cool, dry place, away from light and heat; close the bag again after opening

Consume each product by the date printed on its pack.
